French-Bread development director Kamone Serizawa recently discussed Melty Blood: TWI-LUMINA at Tokyo Game Show 2026. Grand Scenario Mode, a visual novel-style scenario written by Kinoko Nasu, is estimated to take 20 hours to complete.

The story alternates between two main presentation styles. Some scenes use a full-screen text format similar to Tsukihime -A piece of blue glass moon-, while others resemble traditional adventure games with character models and dialogue windows. Familiar locations from Tsukihime, including Souya High School and the Tohno Mansion, appear as backgrounds.

French-Bread is also using dedicated backgrounds, camera direction, music, and pixel artwork for individual scenes. One sequence shown during the presentation recreated circumstances surrounding Arcueid’s battle against Vlov and Shiki’s arrival.

Grand Scenario Mode includes choices, and selecting certain options can apparently lead toward bad endings. Players will also reach a map modeled after Souya where they can select the next scenario to pursue.

Some events lead into battles against dedicated NPC opponents with special abilities. One example shown during the session featured Shiki being challenged by Kohaku, who wielded a broom. Winning will advance the story in some battles, while other encounters may operate differently, though further details were not provided.

French-Bread wants the game to reach Type-Moon fans interested in Nasu’s writing who may not normally play fighting games. The new Act control option was developed with the same audience in mind, offering simpler controls that let players perform special moves with a single button.

The fighting system itself is being reorganized from Melty Blood: TWI-LUMINA to make its mechanics easier for newcomers to understand while still providing changes for returning players. Act and Duel control styles can be switched, and the game includes a system for connecting repeated-button combos into special moves. Additional new battle systems have yet to be detailed.

Serizawa also addressed the presence of Fate characters. While he stopped short of making an absolute statement, he said they generally will not be involved in Grand Scenario Mode. The story remains primarily based on Melty Blood and Tsukihime, leaving the Fate cast in guest roles.

When asked about a potential PC release of Tsukihime -A piece of blue glass moon-, Serizawa said he was not in a position to answer.

Thanks to Famitsu for sharing this news.

Melty Blood: TWI-LUMINA will be released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Switch, Switch 2, and PC via Steam on April 22, 2027.
