While most Fallout: New Vegas fans are looking forward to Bethesda's upcoming remaster, a new release has made the idea a little redundant. It's true that the Fallout: New Vegas remaster leaves plenty of room for innovation, but in terms of visuals, this new release might already have it beaten.
Fallout: New Vegas is often cited as the best game to emerge from Bethesda's era, despite it being developed by Obsidian. It was one of the rare RPGs where choices mattered more than expected, a common criticism of Bethesda's Fallout titles. Because of its popularity, Bethesda is currently developing a remaster in the vein of Oblivion Remastered, with no release window known.
Fallout: New Vegas DLSS 5 Release Shows Off Amazing Visuals
NVIDIA's DLSS 5 technology was officially released with NBA 2K27 earlier this month, exclusive to RTX 50 series graphics cards. However, it did not take long for users to figure out how to implement DLSS 5 in any game, including older titles that could seriously benefit from its visual upgrades. This includes Fallout: New Vegas, which YouTuber Ryan Bevins recently got working with DLSS 5. The footage looks much sharper than usual, with the most significant and obvious upgrades coming to the human characters. Users will make up their own minds, but for some, it won't be far from what they're expecting from a Fallout: New Vegas remaster.

Its initial reveal in March 2026 drew heavy criticism from gamers, as it seemed to stray from the original art direction of the games it was used in. The uncanny valley problem also looms, and some would argue current implementations still haven't solved it. NVIDIA has continued to develop the technology, and with its official release, gamers can expect to see it pop up in more games in the future. Whether gamers actually adopt it in droves remains to be seen.

Be the first.While seeing Fallout: New Vegas using DLSS 5 is a very fun experiment, it will be interesting to see how it stacks up against the official New Vegas remaster, which Bethesda confirmed was on the way earlier this year alongside Fallout 3. It's a safe bet to assume that, should it support the technology, players will be quick to implement DLSS 5 in the Fallout: New Vegas remaster, and it will be interesting to see how that fares.
It's set to be a very exciting few years for Fallout fans. As well as the aforementioned Fallout 3 and New Vegas remasters, Bethesda also confirmed that a new Obsidian-developed Fallout game is in the works. Fallout 5 is also in pre-production, though it remains some way off. After years of radio silence from Bethesda on the franchise's future, it felt as though this was a lot of news for fans to parse when it revealed its plans back in July.
