The Game Bakers has announced that Cairn will receive its first free DLC, On the Trail: Deep Water, on October 29. The update adds three new climbing areas alongside a water soloing mechanic and the ability to climb as Marco.
The DLC introduces water soloing, letting players climb rock faces above water. Falling from these routes sends the climber into the water rather than resulting in death, changing the consequences of unsuccessful climbs.
Marco will also become playable for these climbing sections instead of remaining on the sidelines. Players can choose to tackle the new routes as either Marco or Aava.
Cairn is available on PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store, with a Switch 2 version arriving in early 2027.
